Watch Video: Patrick Mahomes Names The 4 QBs He Grew Up Watching

If Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, they could join the elite ranks of teams to achieve back-to-back Super Bowl championships, a feat rarely accomplished in recent decades.

Although Mahomes experienced a somewhat subpar season by his own high standards, he has showcased his superstar abilities throughout the 2023 NFL Playoffs. Leading the Chiefs to victories over formidable opponents like the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens, Mahomes now faces his toughest challenge against a motivated 49ers team seeking redemption.

Supported by reliable targets like Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, Mahomes has adeptly kept the offense moving, even resorting to his own scrambling skills when necessary due to pocket pressure. Nevertheless, Mahomes stands out in the league for his unique ability to extend plays and make crucial contributions even in challenging situations.

Reflecting on his upbringing, Mahomes has credited the opportunity to observe some of the greatest quarterbacks in the game. In an interview with High Point Sports, he shared his top four quarterbacks he admired as a child.

“His 4: Aaron Rodgers Brett Favre Matthew Stafford Tony Romo”

Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers had strong arms and could extend plays with their legs, whereas Matthew Stafford possessed unrivaled arm talent.
Meanwhile, Mahomes admitted to watching Tony Romo a lot because he grew up near Dallas.

Those four quarterbacks all had comparable characteristics with Mahomes, but the Chiefs’ star is by far the best of the group.

If Mahomes wins his third Super Bowl, it will be difficult to dispute that he and Tom Brady are the best to ever play the position.
