Journalist confirms Sunderland have now signed Jack Clarke ‘replacement’

A young player from Sunderland is expected to take over Jack Clarke’s position in the upcoming summer. Sunderland managed to keep Clarke during the January transfer window despite late bids from Lazio, which was a relief for the club.

Clarke expressed his contentment at the club and will stay until at least the end of the season, but it seems probable that he will move to the Premier League in the summer. Several Premier League clubs, including Burnley, West Ham, and Crystal Palace, have shown interest in Clarke, and Sunderland’s potential failure to secure a playoff spot could increase the likelihood of him leaving.

Sunderland will likely demand a substantial fee for the 23-year-old, who still has two years left on his contract and could command a fee exceeding £20 million. Journalist Michael Graham believes that Sunderland has already secured a replacement for Clarke.

When asked if Jewison Bennette could be trusted to take on that role on X, Graham replied, “I think Mundle will be Clarke’s replacement, and they’ll reassess Bennette in the summer.”

Can Romaine Mundle replace Sunderland’s best player?

Sunderland sign Romaine Mundle from Standard Liege

Romaine Mundle is primarily a right winger, but he has played an equal number of games on the left (33 versus 28), with one more goal contribution (6 goals, 6 assists).

From video footage, the 20-year-old appears to prefer cutting in and shooting, thus the right-footed attacker could gain greatly from playing on the left, like Clarke does.

It’s difficult to assess when we haven’t seen our January signing in action for the senior team yet, but he is another player in whom Tottenham Hotspur saw plenty of potential, with the only difference between him and Jack Clarke being that they wanted Mundle to extend his contract.

It would be fantastic news for everyone if Mundle could take Clarke’s place without causing any big disruptions, but this would only keep fans happy if the money earned helped the rest of the group.

There is no disputing that we will eventually need to bring in a striker in the summer, unless Nazariy Rusyn hits the ground running now.

However, if we have the funds, Sunderland should have a fantastic opportunity to really strengthen the squad and win promotion for the third time.
