Ismael Bennacer has returned to contention for AC Milan following his recovery from injury, poised to play a pivotal role in the upcoming months of the season.
According to MilanNews, this marks the first instance since his serious injury last May that Milan is relying on Bennacer to showcase his best form, although he hasn’t struggled since his return.
The Algerian midfielder has consistently demonstrated his importance in nearly every game, showcasing his physical, tactical, and technical prowess as a well-rounded central midfielder, offering a balance that few others in the squad can match.
As Walter Mazzarri’s Napoli visit San Siro on Sunday evening, kicking off a busy period, Milan will be without Tijjani Reijnders due to suspension for accumulating his fifth booking against Frosinone.
Bennacer is expected to fill in for Reijnders, with either Yunus Musah or Yacine Adli likely to partner him. Regardless, both players are set to benefit from having Bennacer alongside them.
Following his participation in the African Cup of Nations, Bennacer will now be fully engaged in a string of games for the first time this season, having recovered from injury in December and then participating in the tournament.
In an interview with DAZN after the Frosinone-Milan match, Bennacer reassured everyone that he is feeling good, as evidenced by his impactful performance off the bench, restoring order and tactical discipline to the team.
“I am fine, and I am glad to be here with the squad. I want to contribute as much as I can, and I am hungry. “I hope to contribute to the team,” he stated.
