Travis Kelce Confirms He Won’t Be With Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce has confirmed what we already knew: He won’t be at the Grammys on Feb. 5 to support his superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Unfortunately (but not too unhappily, certainly), the Kansas City Chiefs tight end must practice very hard for something called the Super Bowl, which will be played on February 11 and for which his club qualified this past weekend.

“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for, but I think I got practice on Sunday,” Kelce said on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show. “Is today Saturday or Sunday? I know I had practice Saturday, but Sunday is a travel day. Unfortunately, I have to prepare for the big Super Bowl in a week.”

When a Swiftie shared a video of the football player saying this on Instagram, one commenter made a valid point, adding, “As much as I’d like him to go, I’m pleased he’s not. If the Chiefs lose the Super Bowl, Taylor will face unprecedented criticism.”

Indeed, Swift has been the brunt of jokes and criticism since she began attending football games to support Kelce, and sports fans (mostly men, to be honest, but there’s also Megyn Kelly to consider) like to blame her for any mistakes the tight end makes on the field—despite the fact that the Chiefs have won the vast majority of the games Swift attended.

We already knew Kelce wouldn’t be able to attend the Grammys, but the way he phrased it suggests Swift would be there, despite the fact that her Eras Tour begins in Tokyo only two days later.

Let’s see whether she turns up to accept any and all of the seven awards she’s been nominated for!
