Burnley are ready to recruit Stade Rennais’ Lorenz Assignon on the winter transfer deadline, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna.
Galatasaray and Marseille have come forward, but they will be disappointed because the 23-year-old will shortly join Burnley.
On Wednesday, L’Equipe claimed that the Ligue 1 club had told the right-back to look for a new club after leaving manager Julien Stéphan’s plans.
Later that day, Foot Mercato announced that the Ligue 1 team and the Turkish club had reached an agreement, and the player was waiting in Paris.
Aouna has taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that the Frenchman will go to England from Paris today to finalize his deal to Burnley.
Assignon had wanted to join Marseille, but they withdrew after failing to obtain consent from the DNCG, Ligue 1’s financial policeman.
According to a new report from L’Equipe, the midfielder ‘has chosen’ to join Burnley over Galatasaray after being ‘convinced by the arguments of’ Vincent Kompany. The Clarets will sign the defender on loan with a €10 million purchase option.
