Sunderland deal now on the line for fantastic player

Manchester United’s 21-year-old winger Amad Diallo is pushing for a loan move to Sunderland before the window shuts.

According to Football Insider, Sunderland are looking to strengthen their attack before the end of the January transfer window, and they are interested in signing Amad Diallo. They aim to push for a return to the English top division and believe the 21-year-old can help.

Amad Diallo in a Soup

Diallo became well-known early in his career. He progressed through the ranks at Atalanta before joining Manchester United for £37 million in the winter of 2021. Things haven’t gone as planned for the Ivory Coast international since he moved to England.

However, he had an impressive loan spell at Sunderland last season. He was an outstanding performer for the Championship club. The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and four assists across all competitions, helping them finish sixth in the league.

Following his return to Manchester United, he has yet to break into Eirk ten Hag’s first team. The Dutch boss has chosen Antony and Alejandro Garnacho on the right flank, and the former Atalanta forward has played only 36 minutes for the first squad.

The player’s lack of gaming time isn’t helping him, and he’d like to separate ways temporarily. He is aware of the Black Cats’ interest in him and has urged the Red Devils’ management to approve his departure.

A Return to Sunderland on the Cards?

While Sunderland wants him, Diallo is willing to make the move. However, the transfer is being held up by Manchester United, who want the Championship club to finance the majority of his wages during the loan period. With only hours left in the transfer window, the 21-year-old is pushing for a loan move. And, as he is not part of ten Hag’s goals, they should eventually approve his departure.

His acquisition will enhance the Black Cats’ attack and improve their hopes of returning to the English top division. However, considering he has only got 36 minutes of first-team football since the start of the season, it will be difficult for him to get going even if the move takes happen.
