Burnley are getting closer to signing Montpellier’s Maxime Estève late in the winter market.
That is according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, who has revealed the most recent information on X, which was previously known as Twitter.
Aouna believes the 21-year-old is ‘on his way’ to Manchester to complete the legalities for a permanent move to the Premier League club. He also says the centre-back’s Burnley medical is ‘scheduled today’.
On Tuesday, Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri reported that the Clarets had reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 club for the defender’s transfer, but did not disclose specific statistics.
Earlier reports suggested that Burnley had fulfilled the €12 million sum sought for the centre-back but were attempting to delay payments, which irritated the French club.
Vincent Kompany’s side has made a new offer to resolve the situation.
The two clubs have worked out the details of the deal, and the player will go to England for his Burnley medical.
Estève has made 13 appearances this season, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
