AC Milan now hopeful of completing last-minute transfer for 25-year-old

For several weeks, the AC Milan administration has been hunting for a new central defender to supplement Stefano Pioli’s options, but their quest appears to have yielded nothing.

As MilanNews recalls, Merih Demiral’s name has been associated with Milan in recent days, but there is currently little likelihood that he will arrive before tomorrow’s 20:00 CET deadline.

The reasons have been documented in recent hours: first, the Turkey international’s extremely costly wage, which presently stands at €13 million net per season at Al-Ahli, and second, the Saudi club’s refusal to even consider a sale, let alone a loan.

As previously said, the mercato shuts tomorrow night, and Milan is seeking to get a last-minute loan agreement.

However, the Rossoneri’s management has no intention of signing a player purely for the purpose of it.

This was also confirmed by CEO Giorgio Furlani a few days ago: “We have no urgency to do something just for the sake of doing it.”

So, if an exciting opportunity emerges within the next few hours, Milan will be prepared; otherwise, the Milan squad will continue as is.
