Charlton Athletic are scheduled for additional discussions with Nathan Jones regarding their vacant managerial position this week, as outlined by journalist Richard Cawley.
Following the departure of Michael Appleton earlier this month, Charlton Athletic have been actively seeking a new manager. Appleton, who previously managed Lincoln City and Blackpool, struggled to make an impact at The Valley following his appointment to succeed Dean Holden.
Numerous candidates have been linked with the role at Charlton, including 50-year-old manager Nathan Jones. Jones, who has previously served as a youth coach at the club, has been out of managerial duties since leaving Southampton in February 2023.
Richard Cawley, a reporter for South London Press, has indicated on X that Jones and Charlton Athletic are preparing for further discussions this week regarding the managerial position.

Jones had performed wonders at Luton Town, but his subsequent appointments have failed to impress. His time at Stoke City was difficult, and the transition to the Premier League with Southampton was no smoother.
A statement appointment?
Jones’ time at Southampton was not without its challenges. It hasn’t helped his reputation, but the Welshman’s work with Luton Town was outstanding, and if he can repeat that success at Charlton Athletic, good times may finally return to South London.
The Addicks are struggling in League One, and the club’s relationship with its fans has deteriorated significantly. Bringing in a manager who can present a united front is essential, and Jones accomplished just that with Luton.
His prior role as Charlton Athletic’s U21s manager should provide some familiarity, despite the fact that it was more than ten years ago.
The Addicks are four points clear of the drop zone in 18th place in League One, so their next match must be inspirational.
