The latest Championship transfer news as a World Cup star decides between Birmingham City and Sunderland.
Birmingham City are likely to complete the signing of South Korean international Paik Seung-ho next week, despite a hijack attempt by Sky Bet Championship rivals Sunderland.
Sports According to Donga and Korea Football News, Seung-ho will fly to Birmingham next week after graduating from the Barcelona academy and spending time at Peralada, Girona, and Darmstadt. Seung-ho will thus become Tony Mowbray’s second arrival in the January transfer window, subject to a physical and contract signature.
Seung-ho, who currently plays for Jeonbuk Hyundai in his home country, has 11 goals and eight assists in 106 appearances since 2021. The 26-year-old, who can play anywhere in midfield, will provide Mowbray with lots of options.
Seung-ho received offers from clubs in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, as well as Sunderland, but he chose to join Birmingham instead. The proposal is claimed to have been particularly appealing to the 15-time South Korean international, who scored against Brazil at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
