BURNLEY HOLD TALKS TO SIGN 19-YEAR-OLD FORWARD, HE’S BEEN TOLD HE CAN LEAVE

HITC Football believes that Ajax has notified striker Carlos Forbs that he can leave the club during the January transfer window.

Sources have verified to HITC Football that many Premier League clubs are interested in bringing the Portuguese international to the club with less than a week remaining until the window slams shut.

Carlos Forbs, originally known as Carlos Borges, joined Ajax from Manchester City in the summer for about £10 million after impressing in the Citizens’ academy squad and Pep Guardiola deciding to sell.

The 19-year-old has made 25 appearances for Ajax in all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting four times, but the Dutch club appears to be looking ahead.

According to HITC sources, Forbs is apprehensive about leaving the Dutch city, but he has been told that he can go but must act quickly if he wishes to leave Ajax.

Burnley and Nottingham Forest have both held negotiations regarding a deal, while HITC understands Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, and West Ham United are monitoring the 19-year-old’s situation.

Everton and Forest are currently fighting relegation and Financial Fair Play difficulties, and the signing of the potential forward could be critical for either of these teams’ survival in the division.

Forbs race

The Portugal under-21 international can play on either flank, but is usually deployed on the right wing. Any agreement to transfer the forward out of the Netherlands would be a loan.

Burnley, led by Vincent Kompany, are also in relegation trouble, and a new dynamic striker, one Kompany may be familiar with due to his links with City, could be crucial for them.

With only 21 goals scored this season, Kompany’s squad has the second-worst return in the Premier League, trailing only Sheffield United, and might benefit from an influx of goals.

Regardless, there appears to be a race to sign the potential Portuguese forward.
