The Milwaukee Bucks are looking for reinforcements ahead of the February trade deadline. Dejounte Murray, an Atlanta Hawks combo guard, has recently made a lot of noise on the trade market and has previously been linked to the Bucks.
Milwaukee has no clear path to the former All-Star, with the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly close to a blockbuster trade with the Hawks.
Milwaukee Bucks Trade Target Dejounte Murray Headed to Lakers?
Murray is a name that has been linked to the Bucks as they seek to strengthen their backcourt. Jrue Holiday’s departure this summer left a gaping void in the squad, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Murray isn’t a five-time All-Defense guard, but he will undoubtedly improve the Bucks’ defensive performance in the backcourt.
However, as the story above shows, the Bucks are not the only team keeping an eye on Murray. The Hawks look to be open to trading the 27-year-old before the trade deadline, which has placed more than a few NBA teams on high alert.
One of these teams is the Los Angeles Lakers.
As a matter of fact, LeBron James and Co. appear to be on the brink of striking a massive blockbuster deal for Murray. NBA guru Shams Charania recently reported that the Lakers already have an offer on the table:
“It centered around D’Angelo Russell, a 2029 first round draft pick, and a pick swap I’m told. The hold up was that Atlanta wanted to find a third team for D’Angelo Russell,” Shams reported (h/t NBACentral on Twitter).
The Hawks do not appear to be interested in D’Angelo Russell’s services, and they are apparently hunting for a third team ready to acquire the 27-year-old in a possible three-team trade with the Lakers.
Given the gravity of the issue, the Bucks must act fast and decisively if they are to have any hope of acquiring Murray.
