Newcastle United line up £43m move for 20-year-old

Newcastle United are preparing a summer move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The 20-year-old has been identified as one of our top targets to replace Callum Wilson, who is due to depart at the conclusion of the season, when he will be 32 and in the final year of his contract with the club.

Newcastle has a long-term interest in Sesko, whom they extensively monitored during his time at RB Salzburg. However, we can exclusively reveal that a release clause worth around £43 million will become live this summer.

The 6ft 4′ Slovenian has battled for consistent starts at RB Leipzig this season, giving Newcastle hope that he will be tempted by a late-season move to Tyneside.

Sesko is seen as a player with enormous potential, his combination of height, athleticism, and technical ability makes him well suited to Premier League football and an excellent choice to compete with club record acquisition Alexander Isak.

As we reported last month, Newcastle are already looking to acquire a young striker this summer, with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke also being considered.
