Newcastle United transfers: Miguel Almiron is the most recent player to be linked with a move away from St James Park.
Al Shabab, a Saudi Pro League club, has reportedly expressed interest in Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron.
According to writer Ben Jacobs, Al Shabab and Newcastle have’reached a tentative deal’ for the transfer of Almiron, who is willing to depart. Despite the temporary agreement, Jacobs stated, “The deal is not done yet.”
Newcastle has had a quiet transfer market thus far, with no incomings as we approach the final full week of January. So far, one player has left, with Javier Manquillo joining La Liga club Celta Vigo, while Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, and now Almiron have all been linked with transfers away.
Bayern Munich made a transfer offer to Trippier, but Newcastle rejected it. Atletico Madrid targeted Wilson for a loan deal, which the Magpies would not discuss.
However, Newcastle are allegedly more amenable to Almiron leaving the club. The Paraguayan winger has 30 goals in 195 appearances for the Magpies, having joined from Atlanta United in 2019 for a then-club record amount.
The 29-year-old has scored five goals in 31 appearances in all competitions this season, including the club’s first Champions League goal in over 20 years in a 4-1 triumph against Paris Saint-Germain at St James’ Park. The winger had a good 2022-23 season, scoring 11 goals in 34 Premier League appearances, including an eight-goal run in nine games that earned him the Premier League player of the month award in October 2022.
