Transfer latest: Burnley player signs with another club

Burnley defender Owen Dodgson has joined Dundee on loan following the end of his stint at Barnsley.

The 20-year-old joined at Oakwell in the summer, signing a season-long loan deal from Burnley. However, his time in South Yorkshire was up in January when Burnley invoked the recall clause in his contract.

Fans were left wondering what the future contained for Dodgson, who did not appear to be thrown into Burnley’s fight for Premier League survival. The Clarets have decided to loan him out again, with a temporary move to Dundee.

He will remain at the club until the end of the season and has been handed the number three shirt.

After signing a contract at Dens Park, he said: “It’s a great feeling to join a team like Dundee. It is now time for me to thrive and demonstrate what I have to offer as a player. I’d like to present this to my coaches, teammates, and fans.

“The squad performed admirably in the first half of the season, and I now want to step in and contribute to the team’s success in the second half. I just want to be out on the field, playing football and supporting my teammates.”

Dundee boss Tony Docherty added: “I am absolutely delighted to get Owen Dodgson through the door. He is someone that our recruitment team have been monitoring since the summer and we were big admirers of him and we wanted to bring him to the club.
