Alexander Isak is looking sharp ahead of Newcastle United’s encounter against Manchester City on Saturday.
Newcastle gained a significant lift last Saturday when they won the derby against Sunderland, which will give them renewed confidence as they prepare to host last season’s treble winners at St James’ Park.
Alexander Isak continued his outstanding form at the Stadium of Light. He scored a brace in the 3-0 victory over Sunderland, and it could have been a hat-trick if Black Cats defender Dan Ballard hadn’t put through his own goal.
The 24-year-old has four goals in his last three outings, bringing his total to 13 for the season.
He has already surpassed his previous year’s total and is only four goals away from matching his career high.
The Swede is having a fantastic season and will be eager to continue his success on Saturday.
Newcastle release training video ahead of Manchester City
Isak seemed to be confident heading into the game after watching the training video posted to the club’s official YouTube page.
Eddie Howe can be seen putting his men through their paces, although Joelinton is not present. He is expected to miss this weekend’s game due to injury.
Isak does make a cameo, however, and is seen embarrassing one of his Toon teammates.
Matt Ritchie is speaking with Anthony Gordon near the beginning of the video when Isak appears.
At 34 seconds, Ritchie comments, “Look at this guy, I can’t wait to see him train.”
Ritchie may have been having fun with his teammates, but the Magpies’ number 14 did not disappoint.
Alexander Isak dances past Newcastle teammate Loris Karius
In the video’s last segment (starting at 3:33), the club record signing dances past one defender before skipping past a desperate Loris Karius, who dives to dry and denies Isak.
However, he is unable to stop Isak from around the 30-year-old goalie and nudging the ball into the net with his right foot. His close control and balance were remarkable, and he ran away smiling after looking back at Karius.
Even in training, Isak is unique. Newcastle signed a fantastic prospect from Real Sociedad in August 2022, and hopefully he will remain on Tyneside for a long time.
There has been much speculation that one of Newcastle’s key players may leave the club in the near future, and Isak comes into that category.
Given how well he is playing and how quickly he is improving, losing him would be disastrous. He is truly a great talent, and he will be eager to demonstrate that once more on Saturday against Manchester City.
