‘Outstanding’ Newcastle United player could now be fit for Sunderland

Newcastle United may receive a late injury boost ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup match against Sunderland.

Eddie Howe’s team is still hampered by injuries as they prepare for an important encounter against their biggest rivals on Saturday, when they travel to the Stadium Of Light to play Sunderland.

They will be without Callum Wilson, who is out with a calf injury and will miss the derby. The Magpies will also be missing Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, and Elliot Anderson, who are all set to be absent.

Kieran Trippier is another player who could miss the FA Cup third round fixture, but the Northern Echo has provided an encouraging update on his fitness ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby.

According to the Northern Echo, Kieran Trippier could still be eligible for the game against Sunderland.

He is a doubt after missing the Premier League defeat to Liverpool, and Eddie Howe is doubtful if the 33-year-old will be fit for Saturday.

According to the Northern Echo, Trippier hopes to return to training in the next few days and be available for what would be his first taste of the Tyne-Wear derby.

Most of the Newcastle team will be playing in their first derby. Only Jamaal Lascelles and Paul Dummett have previously played in the match.

But Trippier has played in big games before, and his availability to face Sunderland will be a great help.

While he has had a difficult time recently, there is no disputing that he is a ‘great’ player who lifts everyone around him. If he is able to play, we will have a far greater chance of winning this game.
