Would adding Zach LaVine vault the Lakers toward top-tier title contention?
There has been no significant movement on a potential Zach LaVine deal. With the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors trading Immanuel Quickley and OG Anunoby (among others) over the weekend, as the February 8th deadline approaches, revised betting odds on the Chicago Bulls star’s next prospective team have surfaced.
The Los Angeles Lakers now have the greatest odds to get Lavine if he is dealt from Chicago, with +115 odds at BetOnline. The Miami Heat are LaVine’s next possible team at +400, with the Sacramento Kings close behind at +500. The chances for the San Antonio Spurs and the Indiana Pacers are +700 and +900, respectively. No other team has odds greater than +1000 to sign LaVine.
The two-time All-Star hasn’t played since November 28th due to a foot ailment, but he’s expected to begin training again this week, implying a quick comeback. The once-struggling Bulls have excelled in his absence, finishing 10-5 behind a redesigned, revived offense to sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference heading into Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
LaVine’s trade value is being driven down by more than simply Chicago’s recent team-wide success without him. While LaVine has been sidelined, former lottery pick Coby White has played the finest basketball of his career, emerging as a key piece of the Bulls’ immediate present and long-term future.
