Journalist picks another premier league talent to join Ipswich Town after Sarmiento deal

Football talent Andrey Santos, previously loaned to Nottingham Forest from Chelsea, has been summoned back and may be heading to either Leeds United or Ipswich Town in the upcoming month, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Both Leeds United and Ipswich Town are striving for a Premier League promotion, aiming for top-two positions instead of relying on playoffs. This January transfer window presents an ideal chance for them to recruit new players to bolster their chances.

The clubs are likely scouting the Premier League loan market for short-term solutions to strengthen their squads, with young Chelsea talent Santos being a potential key addition. Despite not yet playing for Chelsea and making only one appearance during his loan at Nottingham Forest, Santos is now back at Stamford Bridge and anticipated to embark on another loan, with a move to the Championship seeming highly probable.

During an appearance on the CaughtOffside January Transfer Window Guide, Jacobs confirmed Premier League interest along with interest from the league below, highlighting Leeds United and Ipswich Town as potential destinations for Santos this month.

“Crystal Palace are interested, but there are Championship clubs as well,” he said.

“I think Ipswich might be one to watch, I think Leeds are still in the market because although they have made some sort of replacement, they’ve lost Weston McKennie and there might be a window of opportunity there, so don’t be surprised if we see some movement with Santos.”

A good addition

Jacobs rightly points out that Santos could significantly benefit either of the mentioned teams. Leeds United experienced departures like McKennie and Tyler Adams last summer, followed by Mateusz Klich’s exit in the previous January. Despite securing Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara, and Ilia Gruev, manager Daniel Farke might seek another central midfielder.

Similarly, Ipswich Town boasts midfield depth, yet someone of Santos’ caliber could truly stand out. With his esteemed talent and promising potential, Kieran McKenna’s squad might consider taking a chance on him.

However, if Crystal Palace expresses interest, it could potentially mean a Championship side missing out. The opportunity to play in the Premier League holds immense significance, and after missing out previously with Nottingham Forest, a move to Selhurst Park could offer Santos a second shot at top-flight football.
