AC Milan now given opportunity to sign Premier League striker in January

AC Milan have been given the opportunity to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran but there are some registration issues that could make a move unlikely.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s report, Milan is considering recruiting Duran, a 20-year-old Colombian striker who has a limited role in Aston Villa but has managed to score two goals in the Premier League and twice in the Europa Conference League this season.

The main challenge in finalizing this deal revolves around Duran’s nationality, as his Colombian status requires a non-EU slot in Milan’s roster, which is currently filled. To accommodate him, Milan would have to free up a slot by releasing another player.

While the specific structure of the potential move remains unclear, given that Aston Villa signed Duran for close to €17 million from Chicago Fire in January 2023, they might seek a loan deal with an option or obligation to purchase.

Milan aims to bolster their striking options in January, yet their level of interest in Duran during this transfer window isn’t explicitly defined yet.
