Ipswich Town could be set for star departure in January

According to the BBC, Portsmouth have made inquiries about signing Ipswich Town defender George Edmundson.

John Mousinho’s side have only picked up one point in their past two games, but they are still top of League One.

The Portsmouth boss is eager to add to his team in January in order to further solidify their top-flight position and maintain themselves in contention for automatic promotion.

Mousinho wants to bolster his defensive options, and the club is looking at a number of centre-backs.

Edmundson is said to be one of the players Pompey are keeping an eye on ahead of the winter transfer window.

Portsmouth have already looked into the possibilities of signing the Ipswich defender next month.

The former Rangers midfielder helped Ipswich earn League One promotion last season but has fallen out of favor this season.

He has only made two Championship appearances for the Blues, who are now second in the table.

It remains to be seen whether Portsmouth’s inquiry results in a January offer for the defender.
