Milan is exploring potential replacements for Stefano Pioli amid uncertainties about his future. According to a report from Daniele Longo, the club plans to part ways with Pioli at the end of the season due to recent unconvincing results. Milan has identified Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Bologna’s Thiago Motta as potential candidates for the managerial position.
The doubts surrounding Stefano Pioli have intensified as his team sits 11 points adrift of Inter, the league leaders. Additionally, their early exit from the Champions League group stages has raised concerns. While it’s unlikely that Pioli will be immediately dismissed, it’s improbable that the club will retain him for the future.
Regarding the potential replacements, Roberto De Zerbi and Thiago Motta bring different tactical approaches but share a penchant for structured football. Recruiting De Zerbi from Brighton might pose challenges due to his seemingly settled position with the Premier League club and the presence of a substantial release clause. On the other hand, Thiago Motta has guided Bologna to a top-four position as of Christmas and his prior Serie A experience could facilitate Milan’s pursuit of him as the new manager with fewer impediments.
