According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest have accepted an offer to sell Gustavo Scarpa, which will result in a profit at The City Ground.
Nuno has arrived at Nottingham Forest.
It’s been a busy week for owner Evangelos Marinakis, who fired Steve Cooper earlier this week after more than two years in charge and replaced him with Nuno Espirito Santo.
The former Wolves and Tottenham manager has already spoken to the media and praised Cooper, saying:
“We have a good group of players, but we need to improve as a team.” What Steve [Cooper] achieved here is incredible. Bringing Forest back into the Premier League and maintaining them there. The respect Forest supporters have for Steve demonstrates how good they are. That says a lot about our supporters. We are attempting to enhance his legacy.”
Nuno then added:
“What we can bring is to try and improve the players. Help players become better, give them the solution that they need to compete well – starting on Saturday. Play good and win – that’s the biggest challenge we have ahead of us. It’s a huge challenge.”
Nuno’s first Premier League game comes against Bournemouth at home on Saturday afternoon, and with the January transfer market approaching, he may need to make some hasty decisions on who to keep and who to sell in his squad.
Gustavo Scarpa, who is presently on loan at Olympiacos, is one player who has not appeared for the Reds this season. Forest just received a bid for his services, and he appears to be on track to depart the club permanently.
Nottingham Forest accept Gustavo Scarpa bid
According to Romano, who went to X on Wednesday, Forest have accepted an offer from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro for the offensive midfielder. According to the transfer expert:
“Nottingham Forest have accepted a bid worth more than €5 million for Gustavo Scarpa to join Atletico Mineiro.” Personal arrangements have been agreed upon, and documentation will be exchanged shortly.”
The 29-year-old, described as “creative” by Brazilian coach Tite, arrived in England on a free transfer from Palmeiras at the start of the year, but things haven’t gone as planned at The City Ground or in Greece.
As can be seen, the attacking midfielder hasn’t scored or assisted for Forest or Olympiacos in 2023, so returning to Brazil, where he enjoyed success with Palmeiras and Fluminense, appears to be the best option for everyone concerned.
Forest will also make a profit in excess of €5 million on a player they signed for nothing at the start of the year, so all parties involved in the trade may be pleased with the outcome, and it appears that he will leave for good.
