Isaac Hayden has made his feelings clear on social media.
Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has reacted angrily to reports that his Standard Liege loan could be terminated in January.
After bids to Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday fell through during the final week of the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old joined the Belgian club on a season-long loan in September.
Hayden has since made 10 appearances but has missed the last four, sparking doubts over his future.
According to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri, as relayed by Sport Witness, Hayden is having difficulty settling.
Tavolieri said that “he has clauses in his loan contract that will allow him to go back and train with Newcastle if he wants to, so he could go back as early as January and leave Standard Liege.”
Hayden, on the other hand, has publicly responded to Tavolieri, calling him out for “spreading nonsense.”
“Instead of spreading nonsense, just ask the club or myself instead of speculation,” the former Arsenal player remarked on X. It’s not complicated.”
Hayden trained away from Eddie Howe’s first-team over the summer after returning from a loan spell at Norwich City last season, before seizing at the chance to transfer to Belgium.
Hayden previously stated, “I had options in England, but as I got older, I wanted to try something different.” At the conclusion of the season, I’ll be 29 years old. It was the perfect time for me to try out for a new championship, a new challenge.
“With no disrespect to the Championship, I believe that when I’m at my best, I’m better than that.” “I’ve played for three of the best teams in the division, I know what I’m capable of when I’m fit, and I prefer to switch leagues to keep performing at a high level.”I was playing every game for Newcastle before getting hurt and not playing again. In football, things may happen extremely rapidly. My sole emphasis is on Standard, and we’ll see if I ever want to return to England.”
Rafa Benitez bought Hayden in 2016 and he helped Newcastle win the Championship in his first season.
He has made 171 appearances for Uniteed in total, though he was last seen in December 2021 after being dropped out of the 25-man roster for the second part of the 21-22 season. He has a contract with St James’ Park until 2026.
