Joelinton will convince star to join Newcastle United in January

Newcastle United need reinforcements in January but could miss out on a long linked transfer target with Serie A giants Juventus interested.

After been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and the Champions League this month, and dropping to sixth in the league, Eddie Howe and Newcastle United appear to be relying heavily on the upcoming transfer window.

The Magpies manager is dealing with a long list of injury concerns as the festive season approaches, and the team requires reinforcements to reignite their form in the New Year.

Newcastle United could lean on Joelinton pulling power for full-back transfer move

Newcastle United may rely on Joelinton’s negotiating skills for a full-back transfer.

Newcastle United plan to use the clout of Brazilian midfielder Joelinton if they pursue Red Bull Salzburg sensation Amar Dedic in January.

According to the Sun, the Magpies are competing with Chelsea and Roma for the right-back, who is seen as a long-term successor for Kieran Trippier, although they may be favorites to secure the deal because Dedic shares an agency with Joelinton. Newcastle United scouts are said to have been following the 21-year-old in Salzburg’s Champions League games, admiring his adaptability on either flank.

Arsenal and Barcelona have also been linked with the defender, whose future may be determined by Joelinton and his relationship with his agent.

Magpies could miss out on obvious Premier League signing

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips appears destined to leave the Etihad Stadium next month in pursuit of more playing time. The England international has his sights set on Euro 2024, but he has been relegated to the bench at the Champions League.

Newcastle United have long been linked with a bid for the former Leeds United midfielder, and Sandro Tonali’s prolonged betting suspension has only added fuel to the fire. On paper, Phillips appears to be a classic Howe player and an obvious replacement for the Italian.

However, according to PA, the Magpies are not the frontrunners to sign Phillips, with Italian heavyweights Juventus also interested. The midfielder wants certainty over game time, something the Serie A side may be able to provide more convincingly – a completely healthy and available Newcastle United squad may see the player fighting for his spot once more.
