Vincent Kompany is hopeful of having some players back available for selection for Burnley’s festive trip to Fulham.
The Clarets travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday, two days before Christmas, looking to bounce back from their humiliating 2-0 loss to Everton.
Jack Cork, Aaron Ramsey, and Johann Gudmundsson all missed the game due to injury, although at least two of them have made good progress since then.
When asked if any of the three players named above would be available to face Fulham, Kompany stated, “We’re hopeful.”
“Of those three names, one is less appealing. But we’re optimistic.”
Charlie Taylor is also eligible after serving a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards against the Toffees.
Burnley were also encouraged by Lyle Foster’s surprise early comeback last weekend, with the striker coming off the bench at halftime to make his first appearance in 10 weeks.
Foster will not be pushed back into the deep end after taking an indefinite hiatus from football to pursue treatment for his mental health.
“I’m still very cautious,” remarked Kompany.
“This is just one step in his rehabilitation.” His native habitat includes football, and the idea is to reintroduce him to it.
“I’m a little cautious about that, but playing makes him happy, and when he’s happy, he can do really good things for us.”
“Obviously we don’t just rely on Lyle, but it’s good for us to have a key player back of course.”
Meanwhile, Luca Koleosho is a long-term absentee due to a significant knee injury.
