Arsenal man insists he has ‘no problem’ with controversial Newcastle United figure

Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher discussed manager behaviour with fellow pundits on this week’s Stick to Football podcast.

Ian Wright, an Arsenal veteran and Match of the Day pundit, has stated that he has ‘no problem’ with notorious Newcastle United figure Jason Tindall and encourages his on-field antics.

The Magpies assistant manager’s fame has risen this year as a result of social media users noticing his charming movements in the dugout and ability to find himself in the center of images.

Newcastle United fans adore him, but he has become a divisive character among opponent supporters.

On Tuesday night, Tindall was once again at the center of attention, reportedly exchanging heated words with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino as the London club knocked Newcastle United out of the Carabao Cup.

Jamie Carragher brought up that exchange on the newest episode of Stick to Football.

“It was funny yesterday when I was driving home and listening to the games on the radio and it was the Chelsea vs Newcastle game and the fella said ‘Pochettino is having a right rumble with the Newcastle bench’ and I knew it wasn’t Eddie Howe,” Carragher added. It has to be Jason Tindall!”

Wright, who announced his resignation from the hit BBC show Match of the Day at the end of this season, was quick to respond and express his admiration for Tindall. “Of course it was,” he replied. Naturally, it was. Jason Tindall is another one I have no issues with. “Not at all.”

The Newcastle United assistant went viral earlier this year when social media became obsessed with his personality, and his actions were even brought up to Eddie Howe at a news conference.

“It’s a funny one,” Howe added. I’ve spent the last half hour laughing with him over various topics… and various items he’s received. It’s incredible how the internet and social media can produce such results.

“I think the best way to understand these things is to go back to where we started because it gives you a little bit of context for why he’s in those situations.” We started with no money, no facilities, and a bunch of players, and it was just the two of us doing everything. You name anything, we’ve done it.

“We travelled to watch the opposition five hours away in the car together just us and we’ve never changed that approach throughout our journey together.”
