AC Milan are already lining up their moves ahead of the January transfer window and they have set aside a budget to try reinforce the squad in the areas they wish to, a report claims.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (see below), the management believes that with more defensive stability and more goals in attack, the race for a place in the Champions League will be significantly boosted.
Clement Lenglet has been recognized as the player who can fulfill the first point, while Serhou Guirassy has been identified as the centre-forward who can join the attacking department. A double investment of roughly €30 million has been budgeted for.
The road to the Stuttgart striker is less difficult because he has a €17 million release clause, and he has risen above Jonathan David in the preferred list because he may cost twice as much.
The Rossoneri appear to have decided on Guirassy and are attempting to move quickly. Milan are not the only contenders, and the deal risks becoming a sprint. Geoffrey Moncada and company have been evaluating candidates for weeks, growing increasingly confident that the 27-year-old is the answer.
The days that Guirassy will be involved with Guinea at the African Cup of Nations, with the opening match on 13 January and a possible final on 11 February, could be significant. Dates that Milan additionally emphasized due to Ismael Bennacer’s impending departure.
Guirassy would be an investment for the present and future, as he is now second in the ‘top five’ leagues for goals scored with 16, trailing only Harry Kane, who has 20. Milan also wants to climb the leaderboard and take the lead, therefore they will attempt a sprint in the coming days.
The Growth Decree has recently been in the news, and it must also be highlighted in regard to Clement Lenglet. Taking up a portion of his large income risks costing between €8-10 million, as long as Barcelona contributes the remainder.
Barcelona also controls the remainder of the operation: Lenglet is on loan at Aston Villa but has never played in the Premier League and has only started five Conference League games. As a result, the player’s approval definitely favors Milan and a loan swap there.
The plan is for Barcelona to bring him back from Aston Villa and deliver him to the Rossoneri. While the LaLiga side appears to be interested, Villa are not.
Meanwhile, Milan is less satisfied and is considering bringing Gabbia back from Villarreal: even in this situation, it would involve interrupting a loan with the Spaniards’ approval.
There is some uncertainty about Juan Miranda and whether he will arrive now or later this summer. The Rossoneri want a replacement for Theo Hernandez as soon as possible, before his contract ends in June: a low-cost investment that Milan has budgeted for.
