According to rumors in Italy, Southampton are interested in a €30 million deal for Juventus’ loaned out winger Matias Soule.
Southampton are firmly in contention to move up from the Championship. They are fourth in the table at the midway stage of the season, but are 10 points from the automatic promotion slots due to the sustained good play of Leicester City and Ipswich Town.
The Saints should use the January transfer window as an opportunity to strengthen their squad in preparation for a promotion push. In recent reports from Italy, an intriguing link has emerged.
Southampton are among the clubs interested in Argentinian winger Matias Soule, according to the long-running Turin-based publication La Stampa (as supplied by Sport Witness). The 20-year-old is presently on loan from Juventus to Frosinone and has six goals and an assist in 14 Serie A appearances.
The Saints are said to be’ready’ to make a €30 million (£25.8 million) bid for Soule in January. In recent weeks, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Tottenham Hotspur have all expressed interest.
An ambitious target
If these fresh reports are correct, Soule would be an audacious objective for Southampton. The teenager is regarded as a truly elite right-wing talent, and his six goals in 14 Serie A appearances at the age of 20 has put him on the radar of several big clubs.
As a result, it would be a huge surprise if a move to St. Mary’s were to happen. Given his fast rising stock and price tag, it would be surprising if the Saints made an offer for him this winter.
