Newcastle United star who missed Fulham game ‘confirms’ return v Chelsea in social media tease

Newcastle United right-back Kieran Trippier has teased his return after missing the weekend’s win over Fulham.

Kieran Trippier is expected to be eligible for Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final match against Chelsea tonight (kick-off 8pm).

The England right-back has started every Premier League game for Newcastle since the start of last season, but he was suspended for Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham.

The one-match suspension for collecting five yellow cards came at a perfect moment for the 33-year-old after an injury caused him to leave the game against AC Milan at the hour mark last Wednesday.

Trippier hinted at a comeback for the visit to Stamford Bridge this evening by uploading a matchday image to his official Instagram profile after taking the weekend off.

Newcastle travels to London seeking to move to the League Cup semi-finals after reaching the final last season.

The Magpies were defeated 2-0 by Manchester United at Wembley Stadium, but Eddie Howe is determined to make more memories in the competition, having previously eliminated Manchester City and the Red Devils.

The message Trippier sent to his Newcastle team-mates after fan confrontation

“The beauty of the two games we’ve had previously is we’ve proved we can raise our game against the top teams in a cup competition that brought so many great memories for us last year,” Howe stated during his pre-match press conference. “We’re determined to try and progress, we’re determined to try and create more memories.”We’ve seen the rewards and experiences that can be obtained.

“The build-up to the final was fantastic to be a part of, and while the final itself was disappointing, it was incredible to see our supporters and how we took to London and the whole spectacle.” I’m just disappointed that we didn’t cross the finish line.

“I think it’s helped us for this year and we know this game’s going to be very difficult but we know the prize if we can get through.” .
