Tyler Dibling of the Saints remarked, “I’ve just got to keep going” as he inked a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2026.
Still only 17, the aggressive midfielder has had a strong start to the season as an under-21s regular, as well as a few opportunities in the first team.
Dibling made his professional debut as a substitute in the EFL’s first round trip to Gillingham, and he was also given frequent senior training and matchday squad participation.
In 11 games for the under-21s, he has five goals and three assists for a strong personal campaign.
“It feels good to know that I’m trusted, they want to push me, so I just have to keep going,” Dibling said after signing his contract.
“Keep on doing what I’m doing with the under-21s and when I do get my chance with the first team I’ve just got to take it.”
“It’s been good for me, Sam (Amo-Ameyaw), and Jayden (Meghoma) to be pushed up to be more regularly with the first team.”
“Because they are better players, they will help you become a better player; it has helped.” Now that my future is assured, I just need to knuckle down and keep progressing.”
Andy Goldie, Academy Director, addressed the club’s decision to secure Dibling’s future for the next three years.
“Tyler has embraced the challenges and opportunities we’ve provided him this season, and we’re delighted to reward him with a new contract,” he added.
“Despite the fact that he has already played for our first team and represented his country at the U17 World Cup this season, he is incredibly driven and determined to build on those successes.”
“We now look forward to supporting him in maximising his full potential to earn greater success in the future.”
