Excellent player now suspended ahead of Fulham v Burnley game for ‘kung-fu style’ tackle

Fulham will be without their in-form striker Raul Jimenez for their Premier League encounter against Burnley next Saturday.

Prior to Saturday’s match against Newcastle United, the 32-year-old had scored three goals in his previous two appearances.

However, the former Wolves man was issued a straight red card for a ‘kung-fu style’ tackle on Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff.

Fulham, who had previously won 5-0 in a row, were level 0-0 at the time of Jimenez’s departure, but were subsequently defeated 3-0 by Eddie Howe’s team.

After the game, Fulham manager Marco Silva slammed referee Samuel Barrott, claiming Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles should have been sent off for an elbow on Jimenez.

“It was probably the quiet game Newcastle needed after the Champions League game in midweek.” The quiet game, in the end, wasn’t our fault,” Silva said.

“It was a clear elbow from Lascelles prior to the red card.” He was aware that Raul was present. The elbow is extended. Until the 21st minute, the referee did not give us a single foul. “It was always a free kick for Newcastle.

“Because these games are always played in front of a home crowd, the referee must be able to take the pressure.

“The Premier League should select a referee with experience and the ability to deal with pressure.”

“This is the best example of a referee who lacks the experience to deal with pressure.” He didn’t leave any room for doubt or foul play. Even Raul’s elbow in the face.”

Jimenez will now be suspended for three games, while Tim Ream (calf) and Adama Traore (hamstring) are both expected to miss out due to injury.
Traore, a former Wolves winger, has made just two appearances for Fulham since joining from Molineux in the summer.

Calvin Bassey, on the other hand, should be available after missing the Newcastle encounter due to illness.

Silva’s team face Everton in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals tonight, while Burnley have a full week to prepare for their trip to Craven Cottage.

Fulham are presently 11th in the Premier League, sandwiched between West London rivals Chelsea and Brentford.
