Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Eddie Howe’s future at Newcastle United, amid reports that he is under pressure to keep his job.

The Magpies made a welcome return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, defeating Fulham 3-0 at home in the Premier League. It has been a difficult week for the club, with their loss from the Champions League being particularly painful, especially given that they have dropped out of Europe entirely, without even entering the Europa League.
Rumours have circulated that Howe is under pressure to keep his position at St James’ Park, with owners PIF refusing to guarantee him a job next season. In fact, Jose Mourinho has been mentioned as a possible successor to the Englishman at Newcastle, implying that a shift could occur in 2024.
Howe may be aware that his job is safe as long as he achieves excellent results and steadily steers his team up the Premier League table, but domestic cup triumph could also do wonders for him.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano provided an important update on Howe’s future as Newcastle manager, stating that his position is now safe and that he hasn’t heard anything else, with the Magpies “very happy” with the Englishman.
“I am not aware of any plans to part ways with Howe. I can say for sure the club are very happy with their manager. Everybody is pulling in the same direction and working toward the same goal. I have not heard any suggestions that Howe will be told to leave Newcastle United.”
It is only fair that Howe should not be in danger of losing his job at the present, given the influence he has had at Newcastle since his arrival, taking them back into the Champions League while also playing some wonderful football.
While some outcomes and performances have been below par this season, the Magpies’ injuries have played a significant role in their troubles. Any manager would struggle to be consistent without the availability of so many key players, including Nick Pope, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Joe Willock, Callum Wilson, and Alexander Isak, among others.
With no European football in the future, which means longer gaps between games, we could witness a different Newcastle in the second half of the season, if the injury troubles subside and Howe is able to name a consistent starting lineup week in and week out.
If that happens, it is easy to imagine the Magpies making another top-four push in the league, and if they do, there will be no talk of replacing their manager next summer.
