Last night, the final round of Europa League group stage games were played, identifying the seven teams that AC Milan can draw in the play-off round.
Milan finished third in their Champions League group, relegating them to the Europa League since the 1999-00 season. According to the competition’s current format, this entails a play-off round to advance to the last 16.
The eight Europa League group-stage runners-up will face the eight clubs who placed third in their Champions League groups in the knockout round play-off, with the Europa League clubs being seeded and so playing at home in the second leg. These games will take place on Thursday, February 15 and Thursday, February 22, 2024.
SC Freiburg of Germany, Sparta Praha of the Czech Republic, Sporting CP of Portugal, Olympique Marseille, Toulouse, and Stade Rennais of France, Roma of Italy, and Qaraba FK of Azerbaijan were the eight Europa League runners-up.
The draw will take place on Monday, December 18, and because Milan and Roma are from the same country, the list is as follows:
Freiburg (GER)
Marseille (FRA)
Sparta Praha (CZE)
Stade Rennais (FRA)
Sporting CP (POR)
Toulouse (FRA)
Qarabag (AZE)
