Newcastle United’s injury crisis cannot be underestimated.
Of course, whether or not this is the only cause for Newcastle’s (relative) troubles this season is debatable.
After all, just because certain players are absent does not exclude criticism of those who are there.
Nonetheless, there has been a benefit to the large number of absences.
Lewis Miley is still shining brightly. after being held back after performing in pre-season, the adolescent was given his chance with so few other choices.
That went off without a hitch, to be sure. He may now be eligible for a reward.
Lewis Miley: Newcastle ‘superstar’ could be offered new contract
Those in power, according to The Chronicle, are ready to reward the 17-year-old.
They predict that when the player turns 18 in 2024, the club will likely give him better terms.
Miley is claimed to have already received an upgrade to his current contract, which he signed as his first professional contract in May.
His stratospheric rise has been so rapid that there are plans to extend it even further as Newcastle attempts to fend off any competitive interest from other European teams.
Lewis Miley: A superstar in the making
Miley’s future is bright, having been dubbed a “little superstar” by colleague Sean Longstaff.
The teenager was praised for his performances even in difficult games against Everton and Bournemouth, and he even provided a spectacular assist against Chelsea.
At his young age, performing all of stuff in the middle of the park feels wonderful. It may have been a challenging stretch for the team as a whole, but Miley bears minimal responsibility.
With the added authenticity of being a local lad, doing everything possible to avoid leaving feels prudent.
