I’ve Already Told The Players This About Leeds United Game – Sunderland Caretaker Makes Admission

Sunderland interim manager Mike Dodds admits he has already spoken to his players about Tuesday’s game against Leeds United and the importance of winning.

Under Dodds, the Black Cats defeated West Brom 2-1 on Saturday to return to winning ways in the Championship.

Sunderland moved back into the playoff spots with the win, and they are now eleven points behind third-placed Leeds, who visit the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening.

Dodds wants the Sunderland players to relish their victory over West Brom, but he confesses he has already spoken to them about beating Leeds at the Stadium of Light.

“We’ll be organised, we’ll be fully prepared”, Dodds told his club’s media.

“It’s a quick turnaround so we’ll have to change one or two things.

“I’ve already addressed the players in terms that I want them to enjoy the moment, but I want them to win on Tuesday.

“I’ve just said to them enjoy the next hour or so but make sure we are focused and ready to go tomorrow morning and that the result on Tuesday is a positive one.”

Sunderland have a difficult assignment against a Leeds side that has won six of their previous seven Championship games, including a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
