Carlo Pellegatti confirmed the circulating reports about Mike Maignan’s salary demands for his contract renewal, affirming that the amount aligns with his quality as a player. Maignan stands as a key figure in Milan’s team and ranks among the world’s finest players in his position. Consequently, securing his contract extension stands as a priority for the management presently.
According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the goalkeeper is seeking €8 million net annually for his renewed deal, a significant increase from his current €2.8 million per year. Should this raise be granted, Maignan would claim the title of the highest-paid squad member, prompting a crucial decision for the management.
Pellegatti, while discussing various topics such as the Atalanta game and Gerry Cardinale’s trips to the Middle East during the ‘Filo Rossonero’ segment on Radio Rossonera, also addressed the potential complexities surrounding Maignan’s contract renewal.
“I confirm that the agents’ request is starting from 8 million, which is the right figure for me. Maignan is one of the top 3, 4 or 5 in the world. And his competitors in the race for the best in the world all receive these very high figures,” he said.
“It would be right in his last contract to give him these figures. Otherwise we’ll start evaluating the sale. But you have to decide now, don’t drag it out. The role is too delicate, he is a particular character.”
