According to reports, AC Milan will shortly begin talks with Arsenal about signing defender Jakub Kiwior in January, and their pursuit has been boosted.
Kiwior joined Arsenal from Spezia in the January 2023 transfer window, but the 23-year-old has yet to establish himself as a regular in his first 11 months at the Emirates Stadium, with only five starts in all competitions this season.
According to 90min, Arsenal are “open to granting him a loan move away,” which has piqued the curiosity of a number of clubs, most notably Milan, who are ready to start discussions to sign him given their past interest and defensive crisis.
A loan with an option to buy is preferred, but they are willing to make it an obligation to buy “if it is necessary to get a deal over the line.” Given their lack of options, Malick Thiaw’s recent muscle injury has heightened the necessity to hire a defender.
While the Gunners are warming to the idea of loaning Kiwior out, they may need to buy another defender in January to compensate for the loss of the Poland international.
