Eddie Howe shares what he thinks Everton are really good at ahead of tomorrow’s match

Eddie Howe has spoken about Everton’s strengths before of the Toffees’ match against Newcastle United on Thursday night.

Everton are currently in the bottom three of the Premier League, but their performances have improved significantly under Sean Dyche this season.

Eddie Howe stressed in his pre-match press conference that he will not be underestimating his opponents and has identified what makes them such a difficult squad to beat.

Howe says that Everton’s physicality will be difficult to face

A Sean Dyche team can be counted on to be physical, work hard, and make themselves difficult to beat every time they step onto the pitch.

It wasn’t the most visually appealing game, but we witnessed how determined his Burnley side was for years in the Premier League before a lack of talent finally caught up with them and led to their relegation.

Howe has warned his squad aware of the threat that the Toffees represent ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Everton, revealing that his team will have to ‘compete’ with them physically if they want to win.

Lewis Miley has previously shown technical prowess against PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United, but this is an entirely new level of competition, and it will be intriguing to watch how the 17-year-old handles it.

“They have made big strides as a team,” Howe stated during his press conference. “The biggest challenge for us is that we compete like they do.” They are a physically strong team. They will ask us defensive questions that we will have to answer, and we will have to respond to those questions. It is a significant game for us. We are aware that our away form needs to improve.”

Everton’s league position doesn’t tell the full story

With their points deduction and some of the unlucky defeats in recent months, Everton appear to be a very weak and vulnerable side on paper.

This team, however, should not be underestimated, and they actually appear a lot better than they did last season, when relegation seemed nearly certain at times.

With their 10 points docked for violating FFP, Everton would be 13th with 17 points, looking like a much tougher opponent.

Having said that, Howe will not be taking Everton lightly and will not be anticipating an easy victory for Newcastle, especially after the terrible performance against Bournemouth last month.  They may have won 4-1 back in April, but Newcastle are prepared for a real battle on Thursday.
