Burnley now readying move to sign “outstanding” player in January; he may join for cut-price fee

According to a source, Burnley are in a relegation struggle at Turf Moor and could attempt to aid their cause by bringing a great player to Lancashire in January.

Burnley’s commitment to Vincent Kompany

Without a doubt, the Clarets have showed admirable patience with Vincent Kompany this season, as he continues to bring an entertaining brand of football to Turf Moor despite outside criticism. Following the Clarets’ 5-0 win over Sheffield United last weekend, Belgian manager Kompany commended his players for their dedication to carrying out his style of play, which he has unwaveringly supported despite learning some painful lessons in the Premier League.

“I don’t take it for granted, the amount of pressure there was on the game to turn up and perform, it is a difficult thing to do. I work with an awesome group of players; all I am doing as a coach is hoping every weekend they can translate their hard work into results. Today is one of those days.”

As we frequently see in the English Premier League, managers face increasing pressure to provide the results required to maintain their position in the division year after year, sometimes at the expense of a long-term vision being the major focus at any one club.
The Clarets don’t have this issue because they have faith in the man who created a side that wrecked havoc in the Championship on their path to promotion last season, which can only auger well for the future as Burnley adjust to their new position in the football pyramid.

Looking ahead to January, Kompany is said to be interested in bringing in a new defender for a low cost, according to a report.

Five Derby County players that could leave in the January transfer window

Burnley eyeing Eiran Cashin

According to TEAMtalk, Derby County defender Eiran Cashin is a target for Burnley and a number of other clubs as he continues to impress under Paul Warne at Pride Park. Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, Sheffield United, Birmingham City, and Middlesbrough are all interested in signing the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, according to the source.

If Cashin does not sign a new deal with his current team, he will become a free agent in the summer of 2024. Derby County are hoping that the Mansfield-born star will commit his future to the club; however, if he does not, the Rams may attempt to offload him in January, potentially making him available for a bargain price.

Cashin, who was labeled “outstanding” by previous boss Wayne Rooney in 2022, has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Derby County this season, scoring one goal (Cashin statistics – Transfermarkt).

Burnley already has a promising young squad at Turf Moor, and Cashin might fit in nicely with Kompany’s long-term aspirations for the club, making this a transaction to monitor.
