Manager refuses to rule out January exit as Newcastle could complete shock deal

Ramsdale, who played in all 38 Premier League games for Arsenal last season, has seen his game time severely reduced in the current campaign since the summer loan signing of David Raya from Brentford. The goalie has only appeared in eight games throughout all competitions, including five league appearances.

The out-of-favour England international has been linked with a January move away from the club, with clubs like as Newcastle United and Wolves interested in signing him.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta does not want to lose Ramsdale in the forthcoming transfer window, but he also has not ruled out a possible departure, claiming that he cannot prevent anyone from leaving the club.

“I want Aaron with us,” the Spaniard told reporters. I’m thrilled to have two excellent goalkeepers, and Aaron is sticking with us. We want to improve, thus we want to supplement what we already have. That is the intention we have.

“I cannot guarantee that no Arsenal player will leave in January.” Or he’ll be here for the next three years. I’m not going to say that no player is heading to Newcastle. Or no

Wolves were apparently interested in signing the 25-year-old goalkeeper and had approached the Premier League leaders with an offer, but the Gunners turned it down.

Newcastle United are also looking for a goalkeeper after Nick Pope suffered a long-term injury. Pope injured his shoulder against Manchester United and has been ruled out for up to five months. Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is also on the Magpies’ shortlist.

Arteta’s side, who now lead Liverpool by two points at the top of the league, will be back in action in the Premier League on Tuesday when they host Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
