Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga said in an interview with Gazet Van Antwerpen that he had the option of joining Burnley in the summer.
The 24-year-old, who is presently on loan at Luton Town, stated that a reunion with former Anderlecht head coach Vincent Kompany could happen during the summer transfer window.
However, following a poor spell with Crystal Palace, the midfielder requested time off. The idea of a permanent transfer did not entice Lokonga, who did not want to give up his chances of breaking into the Arsenal first team.
Lokonga has only made two appearances for Luton Town this season, due to an injury sustained in September.
He hopes to return soon and perform well enough to force his way into Belgium’s EURO 2024 squad for next summer. Lokonga broke through at Anderlecht while Kompany was in control of the team.
