Pundit drops truth bomb on Vincent Kompany’s job if Burnley lose to Sheffield United

Vincent Kompany is said to be under less pressure at Burnley than Paul Heckingbottom is at Sheffield United, because it is believed that Kompany can “bring them back stronger” in two years.

Both sides, rated among the weakest in the Premier League, meet this weekend in a vital match at Turf Moor, with a combined goal difference of -45.

Despite the difficulties, there is less conjecture about Kompany’s future than there is about Heckingbottom’s. According to Transfermarkt, Burnley spent roughly €111 million over the summer. Sheffield United, on the other hand, spent €64 million. However, the amount of money Kompany spent is not visible when watching the Clarets play.

Ahead of this weekend’s fixture, Chris Sutton gave his verdict on “It’s all kicking off” podcast:

“This one is very interesting because for the loser it feels like for even the hardcore Burnley fans that have stuck with Kompany it would be a bitter blow to lose at home to Sheffield United, and I’m sure there will be a few fans for whom the doubt starts to creep in about the manager.”

Sutton, like other analysts, has been vociferous about the Blades being one of the worst Premier League teams in history. However, we aren’t witnessing the same enthusiasm for Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.
