‘I think they will’: Chris Sutton predicts who will win tomorrow – Newcastle or Manchester United

Following a disheartening Champions League draw against Paris Saint-Germain, Chris Sutton anticipates Newcastle United’s resurgence against Manchester United come Saturday night.

Newcastle faces yet another significant fixture as they host Man United at St James’ Park, promising an intense match under the floodlights in Tyneside.

Eddie Howe’s squad might experience a perfect storm scenario. They’re riding high on confidence after a resounding 4-1 victory over Chelsea, while the fans harbor frustration following the egregious injustice witnessed in Paris on Tuesday.

On the flip side, Man United had a contrasting European experience this week, squandering a two-goal advantage against Galatasaray, where Andre Onana’s mistakes proved costly.

The clash between Newcastle and Man United always carries immense weight, with an underlying rivalry brewing once more, especially after Erik Ten Hag’s remarks about the Magpies last season. Having already triumphed over them in the Carabao Cup this season, Howe is eager to assert dominance once again and silence the Dutchman’s comments.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton firmly believes Howe will achieve precisely that.

Chris Sutton thinks Newcastle will beat Manchester United

As part of his Premier League predictions for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton has backed Newcastle to beat Man United 3-1 on Saturday night.

“Manchester United did some good things going forward against Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday, but they also did some bad things at the back,” he said.

“Newcastle United will feel hard done by after the way they lost to Paris St-Germain on Tuesday and I think we’ll see a strong performance from them back at St James’ Park.

“Eddie Howe’s side hammered Chelsea at home last weekend and I think they will overrun Manchester United too. This could be a difficult evening for Erik ten Hag, and the end of his side’s run of good results in the league.”

That would be an amazing end to a tough week for Newcastle

Securing a 3-1 victory against Man United on Saturday evening would be an absolute dream scenario. It would also mean concluding the week without a loss, despite facing three of European football’s powerhouses.

In fact, such a result would amplify the frustration from the PSG match. If not for that penalty, we would have clinched victory, making it three wins out of three matches.

However, considering our numerous injuries and the quality of our opponents, it would be quite surprising if Howe manages to engineer another win on Saturday night.

The upcoming game presents a considerable challenge as his team put forth an all-out effort in Paris. The same 11 players who played the entire game might be asked to start again on Saturday night.

This time, they’ll have the support of an enthusiastic St James’ Park crowd under the floodlights, facing a Man United side that has gathered points but struggled to maintain consistent performances.

It promises to be an exciting match, and Chris Sutton believes Newcastle will emerge victorious.
