Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to secure a high-profile signing in January…
Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking for new players in January and are apparently considering a surprise move for a high-profile player at Molineux.
Wolves prepare for trip to Craven Cottage…
Gary O’Neil has had an impressive start at Molineux, stepping into Julen Lopetegui’s shoes without being intimidated. His contribution helped secure 15 points in their first 12 Premier League games. Yet, as they head to west London to face Marco Silva’s Fulham, the 40-year-old aims to push his team into the league’s top half on Monday.
However, they’ll face this challenge without Craig Dawson, suspended due to accumulating five yellow cards. Pedro Neto remains sidelined, though there’s optimism about his quicker-than-expected recovery. Joe Hodge and Nathan Fraser are also out, while Fulham will miss Joao Palhinha, Adama Traore, and Rodrigo Muniz. Issa Diop and Tosin Adarabioyo might not feature for the hosts.
Despite overall improvements in their game, O’Neil encourages his team to seize control and maintain their positive trajectory, as highlighted in his pre-match press conference: “Most of the performances have shown, at least in some of the games, they have an understanding, but you still want every moment on the grass with them to keep improving. You see things every day that you like to correct.”
Now, a fresh report has cast an eye to Wolves’ potential activity in January, claiming that the Old Gold are now looking to pull off an ambitious swoop in the West Midlands.
Wolves keen on Aaron Ramsdale
According to The Daily Star, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and are considering a January loan move for the England international with an option to buy.
Current stopper Jose Sa is expected to go for Saudi Arabia in the new year, with the Old Gold putting a £35 million price tag on his head. If he leaves, Ramsdale has been touted as the top target to replace him in goal at Molineux, with his future at Arsenal now uncertain under Mikel Arteta.
Ramsdale, who was labeled “exceptional” by Arteta earlier this year, has made eight appearances in all competitions this season, preserving three clean sheets (Ramsdale statistics – Transfermarkt).
Nonetheless, he recently lost his starting spot to David Raya and has fallen behind the Spaniard in the pecking order, which might pave the way for a January exit to guarantee he gets regular minutes ahead of EURO 2024.
