YOUNG Saints striker Dom Ballard was injured and replaced during Reading’s 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
The 18-year-old England youth international was stretchered off with an oxygen mask early in the first half of the League One match, which was still scoreless at the time.
As a result of an unlucky tumble, Ballard was immediately surrounded by medical personnel and players from both teams.
As he was stretchered off, Adams Park applauded Ballard, who joined Reading on a season-long loan on deadline day this summer.
Former Saints manager Ruben Selles, who is now in charge of the Royals, confirmed that his ailment has not yet been diagnosed but expressed concern.
“It didn’t look great,” he said. He made the shot following the shot. He had an odd sensation. He’s heading to the hospital for a scan. We haven’t received the verdict yet, but it doesn’t look good.”
Reading said on social media, “Ballard has to come off on a stretcher – takes a nasty looking fall and needs medical attention.” Dom, get well soon.”
Ballard has three goals in ten league appearances for the Royals and recently scored an 11-minute hat trick against Mexico for England under-19.
