Anderlecht are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old center defender Liam Scales, according to HLN. The Irish international now plays for Scottish giants Celtic and has made 12 Scottish Premiership appearances this season, scoring one goal.
Scales began his career at University College Dublin, where he appeared in over 100 games and scored seven goals. He then played for Shamrock Rovers from 2020 to August 2021, when he moved to Scotland to join Celtic. He joined Aberdeen on loan after making 13 appearances during the 2021/2022 season, making 39 appearances and scoring once. He has appeared in 16 games since returning to Glasgow.
He has also represented Ireland’s senior men’s team three times.
Anderlecht are looking to recruit more central defense cover, as Jan Vertonghen and Zeno Debast are their only experienced and well-known players in that area. Anderlecht are second behind Union St Gilloise after a 2-1 win against RWDM in the Brussels derby.
