West Ham pass on bizarre message to fans from Burnley
It’s no wonder, then, that West Ham fans have sold out their Turf Moor allocation for the return of Premier League action this weekend.
However, this has resulted in a perplexing directive being issued to Hammers fans.
West Ham have sent a strange message to Burnley fans ahead of the match after selling out Turf Moor.
The Clarets have reportedly advised West Ham to inform their travelling fans that there will be no room for flags at the game.
Flags banned and fans think they know why
“If you’re travelling to Burnley this Saturday, please note that flags will not be permitted into the away end due to the visitor’s section being sold out,” West Ham’s supporter services posted on social media.
“As a result there will be no room for flags to be placed or fixed…
“I want to reaffirm that this is all flags and has come directly from Burnley. I hope this helps.”
Yes West Ham play in a vast 62,500 seater stadium, but just how small is Turf Moor?!
West Ham fans soon pointed out that flags do not take up any seats in response to the strange instruction.
Many supporters felt that it was simply a veiled tactic to prohibit Palestine or Israel flags from being displayed at sporting events.
With a win over the Premier League’s bottom club, West Ham can move up to seventh place in the table.
On Saturday, Burnley will host West Ham United at 3 p.m. at Turf Moor.
