Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking on talkSPORT, believes Newcastle should make January approaches for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips and Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Despite the fact that we may now sign Ruben Neves on loan from Al-Hilal, he believes Phillips’makes sense’ for all parties. The 27-year-old is poised to leave the Etihad Stadium in pursuit of game time, with Eddie Howe looking to bring in another midfielder in the absence of Sandro Tonali.
The Ramsdale proposal is far more out of the ordinary, but Agbonlahor believes it won’t be long until we look for a goalkeeper who can play out from the back, citing Pope as a ‘great shot-stopper’ who ‘can’t play with his feet.’
The former Aston Villa striker believes Pope’s failure to play out from the back will cost him a place at next summer’s Euros and believes Newcastle will turn to Ramsdale, who has not only lost his place at Arsenal but was also signed by Howe when at Bournemouth. See what he had to say about both below:
“I think Newcastle will look at Phillips.” 👀
“Ramsdale has to go in January. Pope’s a top shot stopper but can’t play with his feet.” 🧤
