AC Milan now linked with ‘shock’ move for Manchester City man

Manchester City might face major transfer interest for one of the club’s most promising young players, according to a new report.

Yan Couto is quickly emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting offensive full-back talents this season, honing his craft with current La Liga leaders Girona while on loan from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old’s one goal and three assists in 12 Spanish top-flight outings this season have earned him a spot in the senior Brazil squad, and the watchful eyes of other key people in the game have not stopped there.

According to a fresh rumor, Couto may now be garnering interest from one of the major players in the Italian game, with the upcoming summer transfer window considered to be a pivotal point in the player’s developing career.

AC Milan are interested in Manchester City-owned full-back Yan Couto, according to information obtained by Sport Witness from the Italian publication Calciomercato and translated and transmitted by Sport Witness.

According to the source, Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada is ‘passionate’ about the 21-year-old and has a ‘complete appreciation’ for the Brazil international, but the Italian club is aware that a deal will be difficult because the full-back is ‘controlled’ by Manchester City.

The midfielder is so highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium that the report suggests they may appoint Couto the ‘heir’ to Kyle Walker, who is nearing the end of his illustrious Premier League career.

Yan Couto joined Manchester City in the summer of 2020 after being heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League champions on July 1.

Couto’s initial loan move was to Girona for their season in the Spanish Segunda Division, before joining SC Braga for the 2021/22 season and returning to Girona the following season.

Yan Couto’s third season on loan with Girona, but by far the most successful from a collective standpoint, as Michel’s side leads the Premier League table by two points above Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
